Mysore/Mysuru: Dr. Abraham Thomas was elected as the President of Jayacahamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club  (JWGC) in the city yesterday. Thomas, who secured 543 votes, won by a margin of just one vote against his nearest rival B.M. Nagesh who got 542 votes in the keenly contested election for the year 2023-24.

V.G. Achar was elected as Honorary Secretary by securing 470 votes against his nearest rivals A.S. Somesh (410 votes) and M.R. Mohan Kumar (205 votes).

K.A. Anil Kumar was elected as Captain by securing 474 votes against his nearest rivals M.S. Yeshwanth (353 votes) and S.N. Hemanth (258 votes). R.S. Nitish was elected as Honorary Treasurer by securing 467 votes against his nearest rivals Dr. Anil Thomas (268), K.M. Veer Mohan (180) and Ramesh Kumar Jain (170).

For the post of Committee Members (Three positions – Playing Category), M.A. Bopanna was elected by securing highest, 881 votes of the total 1,085 votes polled in the election. B.S. Krishna (777) and  D.V. Sridhar (643) were also elected.

For the post of Committee Members (Three Positions  – Open Category), Vinay Natarajan was elected by securing 832 votes, while N.K. Narendra Babu got 783 votes and N. Maneesh 638 votes.
