Basavaraju (78), retired BEO and a resident of Muthaiah Layout in the town, passed away this morning at his residence.

He leaves behind his wife, four sons and a host of relatives  and friends.

Popularly known as KB, Basavaraju served as Mathematics and Science lecturer at Subbanna PU College in Bengaluru and as a NCC officer before becoming the BEO at Periyapatna and Hunsur.

Cremation took place at the crematorium at Olakote in the town this afternoon.
