K. Lingegowda (78), a senior Congress leader and former ZP Member, passed away at his residence in Bharathinagar in the district this morning following brief illness.

Lingegowda, who was popularly known as Chandupura Papanna, had also served as the first President of Maddur APMC and Mandya District Congress Vice-President for years.

He leaves behind his wife Savithramma, a son, four daughters and a host of family and friends.
