K.R. Pet: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) attached to K.R. Pet Rural Police Station was trapped by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while allegedly accepting bribe from a farmer who had sought Police protection for taking possession of his farmland yesterday.
ASI Eeregowda had demanded a bribe of Rs. 25,000 from farmer Umesh Gowda of Hemmanahalli in Sheelanere Hobli of the taluk for providing protection.
Umesh, who finally agreed to pay the money after a hard bargain, lodged a complaint with the ACB. Eeregowda was trapped by the ACB sleuths while he was accepting Rs. 22,000 as bribe yesterday evening.
The trapped ASI was produced before the Court which remanded him to judicial custody.
The trapping operation was carried out by ACB Dy.SP Manjunath and team under the guidance of ACB SP J.K. Rashmi.
