K.V. Kamath in Mysuru

Mysore/Mysuru: Former ICICI Bank Chairman, K.V. Kamath, who is in the news of late on his name doing the rounds for the post of next Finance Minister, was in city last evening to attend the betrothal ceremony of city industrialist Dr. M. Jagannath Shenoy’s son Govinda Shenoy at Silent Shores Resort.

One of India’s most accomplished and acknowledged business leaders, Kamath started his illustrious career in 1971 with ICICI Bank. 

Currently, Kamath is the Chief of the New Development Bank (NDB) of BRICS (association of emerging national economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) countries. The Bank is headquartered in Shanghai, China and Kamath was appointed as the first President of the Bank on May 11, 2015. His five-year term will end in May 2020.

The NDB President is elected on a rotational basis from one of the Founding Members and there are four Vice-Presidents from each of the other four Founding Members.

Kamath is the co-brother of Dr. Jagannath Shenoy, MD of Mangalore Ganesh Beedi Works. He is likely to leave Mysuru today and fly to Shanghai from Bengaluru next week.
