Mysore/Mysuru: Kannada book ‘Kathyayini mattu Itara Kathegalu’ (Kathyayini and Other Stories), penned by noted writer, advocate and Notary, K.V. Vasu was released at a programme jointly organised by District Kannada Sahitya Parishat and Himalaya Pratishtana at Kannada Bhavan in Parishat premises at Vijayanagar here on Saturday.
Veteran Social Worker Dr. K. Raghuram Vajpayee, who released the book, said that the stories written by Vasu focused on women empowerment.
He further said that the roles of women portrayed in these stories symbolises that of Indian culture and tradition, especially relating to middle class women.
Scholar Dr. K. Leela Prakash, who too spoke about the book, said that the book carries a good message to the society and added that writers should develop the habit of reading the books of fellow littérateurs and thus enrich their knowledge.
Maddikere Gopal, President of District Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Mysuru, in his presidential address, said that Vasu’s short stories were very much relevant to the present day society. He felt that the author Vasu should also write books on Law subjects and on burning issues that are confronting the society.
Earlier, Suyog Hospital Chairman and Medical Writer Dr. S.P. Yoganna inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp and said that there was a need to write books on other subjects like Law, so that it may help needy persons in the society.
The book author K.V. Vasu, in his address, said that he was overwhelmed by the love and affection shown on him by the people.
He further said that he aimed to write more stories and articles on various subjects and thanked the audience for being present in the programme. The book has 19 short stories with one sending out a message.
Vasu was conferred with the prestigious ‘Sahitya Seva Ratna 2022’ Award on the occasion.
President of Himalaya Pratishtana N. Ananth compered the programme.
Former President of District Kannada Sahithya Parishat M. Chandrashekar delivered the keynote address. Muktaka writer M. Muthuswamy and Historian N. Ashwathnarayana were the chief guests.
