Kabini Dam is safe: DKS

August 2, 2024

Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar (DKS), who holds Water Resources portfolio, has clarified that, no cracks have appeared in Kabini Dam and hence there is no threat to the Dam.

Referring to media reports about the cracks in Kabini Dam, the Deputy CM said, those residing in river banks are in the grip of fear.

However, there is nothing to fear about, as the Government is very much concerned about the safety of the structure. With the river flowing at dangerous level, those living in river banks should stay safe, without venturing out, for no reasons. By Thursday evening, over 100 TMC ft of water has been released to Tamil Nadu, added DKS.

Saying that, he would pray for peace to departed souls of those who died in landslides in Kerala, Shivakumar assured full cooperation of the Government, to help that State and also the residents in this grave situation.
