‘Kadali Yatra’ marks Akka Mahadevi Jayanti

Mysore/Mysuru: To commemorate Sharane Akka Mahadevi Jayanti, a ‘Kadali Yatra’ was jointly organised in the city by Akhila Bharata Sharana Sahitya Parishat City Unit, Kadalai Mahila Vedike, J.P. Nagara Sharana Vedike and Arivina Mane Mahila Balaga, at J.P. Nagar in city on Sunday.

The ‘Yatra’ was flagged off by Krishnaraja (KR) MLA T.S. Srivatsa and Hosmutt Seer Sri Chidananda Swamyji after garlanding the statue of Puttaraja Gawai at Puttaraja Gawai Stadium in J.P. Nagar. It passed through various streets of J.P. Nagar. Women recited Vachanas written by Akka Mahadevi all along the ‘Yatra’ route adding glitter to the procession which culminated at the statue of Akka Mahadevi in the area.

Corporators Sharadamma Eshwar and Shantamma Vadivelu, Parishat City Unit President M.G. Sadanandaiah, Sharada Shivalingaswamy, J.P. Nagar Sharana Vedike’s Puttarajappa, J. Nagendra Kumar, B.S. Mahadevaswamy, Nandish, Sudhakar, Parameshwarappa, Sadashivu, Chandrashekar, Satyendra Murthy, Arivina Mane Mahila Balaga President Manjula Ravi and office-bearers were present during the inauguration of the ‘Yatra’ which saw participation of over 300 women.
