Mysuru: Kalasuruchi will be presenting the Kannada play ‘Raman – Sound. Thunder. Light’ based on the life of Sir C.V. Raman at Mini Theatre in Kalamandira premises here on Apr. 11 at 6.30 pm.
Shashidhar Dongre, who has authored a number of science plays, has written the script and well-known Theatre Person and Director Prof. H.S. Umesh has directed the play.
Raman – Sound. Thunder. Light: Who has not heard of C.V .Raman? As the first Nobel Laureate from India, he blazed a new trail in the field of science in the early part of 20th century. Calcutta School of Physics was founded around him. He was known for his sharp intellect, an ability to communicate effectively to fellow scientists and common citizens with equal aplomb.
At the same time, he had a complex personality. He had no patience for pretensions and reacted sharply. After winning laurels at Calcutta, he had to face a lot of difficulties in his professional life. He was accused of showing partiality to Physics at the expense of other branches of science. He had an abiding interest in Music and had even studied science of sound of mridanga.
