Kallahalli GP members threaten to resign and boycott LS election

Urge shifting of present GP office

Hunsur: Elected representatives of Kallahalli Gram Panchayat (GP) comprising four villages staged a protest in town on Tuesday urging the authorities to shift the Gram Panchayat office to the main road near Kallahalli Gate failing which they threatened to resign and also boycott the LS election on Apr.18.

Speaking on the occasion,  GP President Thammegowda recalled that a decision to shift the GP office to near Kallahalli Gate on the main road was taken during the last meeting and has conveyed to Mysuru Zilla Panchayat and also the government but to no avail.

He said that the owner of the building housing the present GP office was insisting on vacating the premises. He observed that the government land on the main road can easily accommodate constructions of a good Anganawadi Centre and the new GP office for which a grant of Rs. 25 lakh has already been received. He regretted that the Taluk Administration was not coming forward for judicious spending of the released grant.

The villagers lamented over the inconvenience encountered by them in coming to the existing office.

Village leaders Hanumanthegowda, Srinivas, Rajegowda, Puttaswamy Gowda and GP members were present.
