Mysore/Mysuru: At a preliminary meeting held at Kanaka Bhavan in Siddarthanagar here recently under the leadership of Kanakadasa Jayantyotsava Samithi President and former MLA M.K. Somashekar, it was decided to celebrate Kanaka Jayanti on a grand scale in city on Nov. 30.
The meeting decided to invite Kaginele Kanakaguru Peetha’s Swamiji and Urilinga Peddi Mutt’s Sri Jnanaprakash Swamiji to grace the occasion. Scholar Dr. Kabbinale Vasanth Bharadwaj will be the main speaker.
It was also decided to invite people from Mysuru and other districts to celebrate Kanaka Jayanti like a mini Dasara. In addition to folk troupes, a procession of tableaux of social reformers, great leaders, their messages and tableaux which depict the guarantee schemes of Congress-led State Government will be a part of the procession.
The meeting decided to felicitate meritorious students of the community and Rajyotsava awardees also.
Samithi Secretary Bank M. Puttaswamy, Convenor M. Shivanna, former ZP President B.M. Ramu, Kurubara Sangha former President Subramanya, former Mayor T.B. Chikkanna and others attended in the meeting.
