A Kannada book ‘Devara Sevaka Rajendra Swamigalu (Antoniyo Maria Platey)’ on missionary and social service activities of Rev. Fr. Antoniyo Maria Platey, a Jesuit Missionary from Italy, will be released by Most Rev. Dr. Francis Serrao SJ, Bishop of Mysuru, at Chikkarasinakere tomorrow (May 1), on the occasion of the Annual Jathra Festivities in his honour. Antoniyo Maria Platey was fondly called ‘Rajendra Swamy’ by his devotees and he is on the way to be proclaimed a Saint, making him the first Saint of Mysuru. He is already proclaimed as ‘Servant of God.’ This is the first step in canonisation.
The book is written by Rev. Fr. Dr. Dayananda Prabhu, Visiting Professor, Chair in Christianity (retd.), University of Mysore. This is his 21st book.
