Kannada Catholic Chraisthara Sangha to boycott consecration

The members of Kannada Catholic Chraisthara Sangha have decided to boycott the consecration ceremony of Rev. K.A. William as the Bishop of Mysore today evening.

The President of the Sangha, in a press release, has said: “In 14 Roman Catholic Dioceses in the State, all the Bishops are non-Kannadigas. On many occasions, we had appealed to the out-going Bishop to recommend to the Pope to at least appoint one Kannada Priest from the State to the post but unfortunately none had done so.”

He has also stated that the former Bishop had recommended his close associate Fr. K.A. William, “a Tamil Priest, who is accused of criminal charges in the Court of Law.” The release further stated that the Sangha has decided not to congratulate the new Bishop nor attend his consecration  ceremony.

The Sangha President also stated that while they are unhappy with the appointment of the new Bishop they will not hold any sort of protests during the religious ceremony, but would continue their fight and struggle against injustice on Kannadigas through legal and peaceful means.
