‘Kannada Novels have earned popularity across nation’

Mysuru: District Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Jnanavardhini Education Trust and Karnataka Vichara Vedike had organised a function at Maneyangala in Kalamandira premises here recently for the release of the novel ‘Mahabhikshuki’ written by Prasanna Hegde together with a ‘Kavigoshti.’

Speaking on the occasion, columnist Dr. Gubbigudu Ramesh expressed happiness that Kannada books had earned popularity across the nation. He had full praise for the book ‘Mahabhikshuki’ for excellent portrayal of exploitation of a mute woman cashing in on her disability to the core with perverts satiating their carnal desires till the poor woman dies.

He added that a few interesting incidents happen in between which eventually keeps the reader glued to the pages of the book.

Ramesh further said that of late, the number of novels coming out has declined and not many of them with good substance. He commended Prasanna Hegde for coming out with a novel depicting harassment of women from all angles. Music University Registrar Dr. Niranjan Vanalli also spoke on the book churning out an innovative substance.

At the ‘Kavigoshti,’ several poets recited poems composed by them. Social worker K. Raghuram was felicitated.

Littérateur Dr. Malali Vasathakumar, Parishat Mysuru President Dr. Y.D. Rajanna and Hardwicke PU College Principal Hirimarali Dharmaraj were present during the occasion.
