Kannada Sammelana from tomorrow

Mysuru: There is festive mood in the air and all roads will lead to the Maharaja’s College Grounds where the three-day 83rd Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana will begin tomorrow. The Sammelana is being held in the cultural city after a gap of 27 years.

The flag hoisting ceremony will be held at 8.30 am at the venue. The National Flag will be hoisted by District in-charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, Kannada Sahitya Parishat flag by Parishat President Dr. Manu Baligar and Kannada flag by Parishat District President Dr. Y.D. Rajanna.

Volunteers are seen registering and handing over the kits to the delegates at Babu Jagjivan Ram Bhavan on Valmiki road here this morning.

ZP President Nayeema Sulthana will flag off the procession in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy temple at 9 am. Kannada Theru (chariot) and an open vehicle carrying the Sammelana President Prof. Chandrashekar Patil to the venue will accompany the procession.

Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep, Zilla Panchayat CEO P. Shivashankar, City Police Commissioner Dr. A.S. Rao, SP Ravi D. Channannavar and MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesh will participate.

Chief Minister Siddharamaiah will inaugurate the Sammelana at 11am at the Maharaja’s College Grounds. Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa will welcome the guests. Dr. Manu Baligar will deliver the keynote address and Sammelana Past President Dr. Baragur Ramachandrappa will address the gathering.

Sammelana President Prof. Chandrashekar Patil will deliver the inaugural address.

Minister for Kannada and Culture Umashree will inaugurate the cultural programme.

Litterateurs-in-making: School children from Belagavi arrive to participate in the Sammelana.

Leader of the Opposition in Assembly Jagadish Shettar will release the Sammelana commemorative volume, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Tanveer Sait will inaugurate the book stalls and Minister for Sugar and Small Scale Industries Dr. Geetha Mahadevaprasad will release the Parishat books.

MP Pratap Simha will release books of various authors. Deputy Chairman of Legislative Council Marithibbegowda will inaugurate the painting   expo, while MP R. Dhruvanarayan will inaugurate commercial stalls. Mayor M.J. Ravikumar, Legislators Vasu, M.K. Somashekar, G.T. Devegowda, K. Venkatesh, H.P. Manjunath, S.R. Mahesh, Kannada and Culture Secretary Chakravarthi Mohankumar, Director N.R. Vishukumar and others will be on the dais.
