Mysuru: The ‘Acharya Mahashraman Kanya Suraksha Circle’ was inaugurated at the Mother & Child Care Block of Cheluvamba Hospital in city recently. This programme was initiated by Terapanth Mahila Mandal, Mysuru.
ASP Kshama Mishra and Dean and Director of MMC&RI Dr. C.P. Nanjaraj were the guests of honour at the event.
Akhila Bharatiya Terapanth Mahila Mandal National Secretary Neelam Sethiya, who was the chief guest, said this Kanya Suraksha Circle aims at creating awareness against female foeticide and to protect girl child. So far there have been 70 such Circles installed in the premises of Hospitals and educational institutions across India.
Mysore Mahila Mandal Secretary Khamosh Mehar said, “A home without a daughter is like a body without a soul. Women understand relationships better than men and bind the family together. There are instances of sons abandoning parents but daughters always take care of the parents.”
ASP Kshama Mishra said, “Laws are vital to protect the interest of both men and women and society as a whole, but law alone is not sufficient. There is a need for change in the social thinking to respect and protect women. Only such thought process will bring a transformation in the society.”
Dr. Nanjaraj said, “There is a need for a social commitment for a biological balance and welfare of the society. Female foeticide is an offence. Save the girl child.”
Terapanth Mahila Mandal President Vanmala Nahar welcomed. Terapanth Mahila Mandal Secretary Khamosh Mehar was the Project Director and host of the event. The Circle was sponsored by Uttam Chand Bhatewra.
