Karnatak classical vocal concert on Mar. 24

Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha Charitable Trust, Mysuru, has organised a Karnatak classical vocal concert by Vidu. Prithvi Bhaskar at Ganabharathi’s Veene Seshanna Bhavana in Kuvempunagar on Mar. 24 at 6 pm to celebrate the 250th birth anniversary of Muthuswami Dikshitar.

Dikshitar is one of the musical trinity, who has enriched the Karnatak music repertoire with his valuable compositions numbering 450 to 500.

His compositions are treated as masterly works for their content of spiritual values and selection of variety of ragas including rare ragas etc.

Vidu. Prithvi Bhaskar will be accompanied by Vidu. Thanmayee Uppangala on violin, Vid. Vinod Shyam Anoor on mridanga and Vid. Sunaad Anoor on khanjira.

Profile: Prithvi was born in to a family of musicians. She excelled both in violin and vocal music at a very young age with the guidance from her grandmother, Vidu. H.N. Rajalakshmi in  vocal and Vid. H.K. Narasimhamurthy, grandfather in violin.

Her father Vid. H.N. Bhaskar is an eminent violinist. She has performed in many prestigious Sabhas and has bagged several awards and accolades.
