Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has introduced video conferencing facility to hear cases as a measure to curb the spread of Coronavirus in Court premises.

The notification issued in this regard through Registrar T.G. Shivashankare Gowda reads, “In view of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), Virtual Courts has been created in the High Court of Karnataka, Principal Bench, Bengaluru. Advocates/ party-in-person can digitally appear by using videos/Skype to represent their cases listed before the High Court, Principal Bench, Bengaluru and Benches at Dharwad and Kalaburagi. Advocates party-in-person are requested to share their case details, video/Skype ID to email [email protected] of Registrar (Computers).”

It was further stated that the respective Advocate/Party-in-person would be informed about the slot given for their appearance through digital means. Recently, the Bombay High Court had notified that it would take up urgent matters via video conferencing as well after it decided to restrict its functioning to minimise risking the spread of the Coronavirus.
