Karnataka Open School a boon for dropout students

Mysore/Mysuru: The city’s Karnataka Open School, which is recognised by the State and Central Governments, hosted a State-level Co-ordinators Meet at its premises on 5th Main Road, Basaveshwara Block, Teachers Layout in city recently.

DSERT Senior Assistant Director R. Manjunath, who spoke after inaugurating the Meet, said that the Open School is part of JSS Mahavidyapeetha.

Pointing out that hundreds of children, who dropped out in the middle of the academic year for various reasons, have been directly admitted to 10th and 12th standards at the Secondary and Senior Secondary levels, Manjunath said that the Open School is making all attempts  to bring back dropout children to schools and thus bring them to the mainstream society.

School Head C.S. Shivaswamy gave a brief summary of the programmes launched for the growth of the Open School.

He further said that the Open School will be celebrating its Silver Jubilee next academic year (2024-25).
