Kalaburagi: In order to compete with private schools, the State Government is planning to set up model schools to be named as ‘Karnataka Public School’ in 760 hoblis of the State.
Announcing this while speaking to press persons here recently, Minister Tanveer Sait said that enough funds will be earmarked in the next Budget for setting up the schools. Stating that about 36,000 schools in the State were in a dilapidated condition, he said that the buildings of about 31,000 Schools were repaired.
Pointing out that the schools needed about 19,000 more classrooms, the Minister said that the Government has allocated Rs. 566 crore for the same.
“The Karnataka Secure Examination System (KSES) Act has been passed in both the Houses of the Legislature to ensure no leakage of SSLC and PUC Exam papers and a law would soon be implemented in this regard,” Sait said. Maintaining that the Government has taken many measures for preventing copying and other exam malpractices, Sait said Senior Officials of the Education Department have been asked to draw plans for improving SSLC & PUC results.
