Mysuru: Karnataka Sahitya Academy Annual Awards for the year-2021 have been announced and five senior writers have been given Annual Honorary Awards, 10 writers are selected for ‘Sahitya Sri’ award, prizes for 19 works and 10 works for Endowment Awards have been announced.
At an all members meeting held under the Chairmanship of Kannada Sahitya Academy Chairman Dr. B.V. Vasanthkumar on Friday, it was decided to give the Annual Honorary awards which includes a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 and a memento to senior writers — Jinadatta Desai, Dr. N. Mogasale, Dr. Saraswati Chimmalagi, Prof. Basavaraja Kalgudi and Ellappa K.K. Pura.
‘Sahitya Sri’ awards which include a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 and a memento will be given to five writers for their achievements in creative writing, three writers for other forms of writing and one award each for literature promoters and outside achievers. The Awardees are: Dr. Chandrakala Bidari, Prof. M.N. Venkatesh, Dr. Channabasavaiah Hiremata, Dr. M. Ramakrishna, Abdul Rasheed, Dr. Y.M. Bhajantri, Jogi (Girishrao Atwar), Mysuru Krishnamurthy, Ganesh Amingad and Aluru Dodda Ningappa.
