Karnataka State Shooting Championship: MDRA shooters excel

Shooters from Mysuru — Rakshith Shastry and M.S. Nagendra (Para) — fared well in the Karnataka State Rile Association’s State Ranking Shooting Championship-2019 held at SAI Centre Shooting Range in Bengaluru recently.

Rakshith Shastry, an employee of Ranga Rao and Sons Group of Companies, Mysuru, is one of the top shooters in the State. He represented Mysore District Rifle Association (MDRA) and bagged seven Gold Medals [Two in 10m Air Pistol; One each in 10m Mixed Team Air Pistol Event teaming with Divya, 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Event and 50m Free Pistol (Team) and two in 25m Standard Pistol (Individual and Team)] and a Silver Medal [25m Centre Fire Pistol event] in different categories of the Championship.

M.S. Nagendra of BEML Ltd., Mysuru (a para shooter), who also represented MDRA in the Championship, won two Gold Medals [One each in 10m Air Pistol and 50m Free Pistol] and a Silver Medal [25 m Sports Pistol].

Another shooter, Manjesh Mandanna from MDRA, won Bronze Medal in 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Event and Silver Medal in 25 Standard Pistol Team Event.

All the three shooters are coached by Ex. Army Shooter and National Coach, Suresh, who is also the Hon. Secretary of MDRA at Mysuru.

Many other shooters from MDRA have also fared well and have qualified to participate in the South Zone Shooting Championships.
