Mysore/Mysuru: Chairman of Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes Jayaprakash Hegde inaugurated Karnataka Ursu Mahamandali Charitable Trust at 110-year-old Sri Venugopalaswamy Temple premises (Heritage Sabha Mantap) on Thyagaraja Road in city recently.
Launching the website of the Trust by clicking on the icon “kuctrust.org,” Hegde also recalled the initiatives taken by erstwhile Maharaja Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, followed by the then Chief Minister D. Devaraj Urs through Havanur Commission for the uplift of backward classes.
He assured the gathering that he will recommend for political reservation for Ursu community.
Stating that he was happy to visit the 110-year-old heritage Temple, he lauded the carvings of idols of Sri Krishna with his consorts Rukmini Devi and Satyabhama, a rare sight to see.
President of the Trust B.S. Sridhara Raj Urs said how in a short span of three days, the website was developed by his relative Anandaraje Urs.
Suma Urs rendered the invocation. Dr. M.G.R. Urs welcomed. Secretary of the Trust Y.M. Kiran Urs proposed a vote of thanks.
