Mysuru: The written re-exam of KAS (Karnataka Administrative Service) preliminary examinations conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) for recruitment of 384 Group-A and Group-B probationer posts, passed off smoothly at all the 27 centres spread across in city, this morning.
Out of the 11,481 candidates who had registered for the exam in city centres, only 6,065 appeared for Paper-1 held in the morning session (10 am-12 noon), while 5,416 candidates were absent. The Paper-2 exam was held in the afternoon session (2 pm – 4 pm).
Additional DC P. Shivaraj and other top officials went around some of the exam centres and supervised the conduct of the exams, which was held under tight Police security. The Police had clamped prohibitory orders within 200 mts radius around all the exam centres as a security measure and all photocopy shops and browsing centres in the vicinity of the centres were ordered to close down for the day.
The KPSC had conducted the preliminary exam on Aug. 27, 2024. But severe public criticism following significant issues regarding mistranslation between English and Kannada version question papers, forced the Government to order a re-exam, with CM Siddaramaiah directing the KPSC to conduct the re-exam by the end of this year.
