Mysuru: Jhankar, a programme of Kathak and Hindustani music, is scheduled to be held at 6.30 pm tomorrow (Sunday) at Kalpa Kshetra auditorium, # 581/1, Vijayanagar 4th Stage, 1st Phase, Mysuru. The event will showcase talents of a group of Bengalis in music and dance.
Papri Bhattacharyya will be singing in Hindustani style along with Shampa Sharma.
Papri Bhattacharyya is a Master’s degree holder in vocal music from Rabindrabharathi University and has been a student of Ajoy Chakraborty, the famous musician of the Patiala Gharana. She has been awarded ‘Surmoni’ title from Surnandan Bharati, Kolkata.
Mitali Ghosh is a Gold Medallist in Kathak from Sastriya Sangeet Parishad, Kolkata. Belonging to the Lucknow Gharana, she has been guided by Pt.Vijayashankar and Pt.Birju Maharaj. She and her disciples will be presenting Kathak dance items.
Anandarup Bhattacharya will provide Tabla support. He is a disciple of Pt.Anindo Chatterjee and his son Anubrata.
Harmonium accompaniment will be Mysuru artiste Deepak Nagannavar.
The programme is open to all.
