Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina wins maiden Grand Slam title

Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina, the winner of Women’s Singles title of Wimbledon-2022, who beat and Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur pose in the finals yesterday.

All-Australian team wins Men’s Doubles

Elena Rybakina yesterday won her maiden Grand Slam title after beating Ons Jabeur in the final of Wimbledon’s Women’s Singles.

Rybakina came from a set down to beat Jabeur 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 and become the first player from Kazakhstan to win a major title.

After taking the first set, Jabeur lost her way in the match, which saw Rybakina take control of the proceedings. Rybakina took the second set after breaking Jabuer twice, before doing the same in the decider to become Wimbledon’s centenary champion.

Men’s Doubles

Australia`s Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell prevented the Croatian duo of Mate Pavic and Nikola Mektic from winning back-to-back Men’s Doubles titles at Wimbledon with a 7-6 (5), 6-7 (3), 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (10-2) victory in the final on Saturday.

Ebden and Purcell became the first all-Australian team in 22 years to win the Men’s Doubles at the All England Club since the famous Woodies — Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde — won their last title.
