KEA Chairman plans Police Band performance during weekends

February 19, 2025

Mysuru: Chairman of Karnataka Exhibition Authority (KEA) Ayub Khan said, special programmes are being conceptualised to entertain people during the weekends by organising the performance of Karnataka Police Band, along with popular artistes on Sundays.

He said people have been coming in hordes to city on weekends from surrounding districts, State and also foreign countries. The special entertainments are being planned to cater to people during evening hours, so that local traders can reap benefits.

The tourists visiting Mysuru, visit Chamundi Hill, Karanji Lake, Nanjangud and Mysore Palace, among several other tourist spots on their itinerary, by the evening, before heading towards KRS Dam. To cater to such tourists, the evening programmes are on the anvil, he said.

Police Band performed by Mysuru Police holds a prominent position in the State and lakhs of people descend on Palace to savour the performance of the band, during Dasara. Tapping into the immense popularity of the band, Ayub Khan has decided to conduct weekend programmes.

As part of the concept, a huge stage will be erected in front of the main entrance of the Dasara Exhibition Grounds, where the Police Band will perform, followed by special programmes of popular artistes.

The proposal to involve the Police Band in entertaining the gathering on Sundays is being discussed with the City Police Commissioner. Such cultural programmes may come in handy to keep the tourists glued to the city for the day, that may boost the tourism industry further. —Ayub Khan, KEA Chairman
