High Court Judge Justice H.P. Sandesh speaks at Nadaprabhu Sri Kempegowda Jayanti
Mysore/Mysuru: Karnataka High Court Judge Justice H.P. Sandesh has highlighted the dedication of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda to the welfare of all sections of society, noting that he became a revered leader through his efforts.
“It is an irony that we are presently constructing huge buildings on the ponds and lakes provided by Kempegowda for the welfare of his people,” lamented Judge Sandesh.
He was speaking at an event organised by the Mysuru Bar Association at the City Law Courts premises to commemorate the 515th birth anniversary of Nadaprabhu Sri Kempegowda yesterday. The event was graced by Sri Adichunchanagiri Seer Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji.
“Kempegowda, who was a tributary ruler of the Vijayanagar Empire and ruler of Yelahanka, constructed many lakes and ponds with a vision to provide water for his people and future generations. They were also built with the good intention of groundwater recharge. But present rulers have closed some of them and have built high-rise buildings in their place. It really is an irony that we are looking for sources of income in this manner,” regretted Justice Sandesh.
Stating that Kempegowda became a ruler at the age of 18, he emphasised that Kempegowda never worked for the welfare of any single community but strived hard for the welfare of all sections of society.
Kempegowda encouraged traditional occupations of all communities, built 64 marketplaces to provide them with financial empowerment, and thus became a leader of all communities, he noted.
“Only those who work for the development of everyone are real leaders, and they remain in the minds of people forever,” added Judge Sandesh. He concluded by saying that if people keep the three ‘H’s — head, heart, and hand — under control, it will help create a good society.
Mysuru Principal District and Sessions Court Judge Ravindra Hegde also spoke at the function, while Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji gave his blessings.
The event was attended by Mysuru Adichunchanagiri Mutt Seer Sri Somanatha Swamiji, Karnataka State Bar Council member B.R. Chandramouli, Bar Association President S. Lokesh, Vice-President M.V. Chandrashekar, Secretary A.G. Sudhir along with other office bearers, members and judges.
