‘Kin-Kini Puja’ of Aina Somaiah and Lakshmi Karthika tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: ‘Kin-Kini Puja‘ (maiden performance) of Aina Somaiah Moovera and Epuru Lakshmi Karthika, disciples of Guru Dr. P.M. Chethana Radhakrishna, Director, Gurudev Academy of Fine Arts, Mysuru, will be held at Jaganmohan Palace auditorium in city tomorrow (Nov. 5) at 5.30 pm.

K. Harishgowda, MLA, will inaugurate. Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar, former Vice-Chancellor,  University of Mysore, Chief Paediatrician Dr. Rajeshwari Madappa of Sigma Hospital, Mysuru and Vidu. T.S. Sreelakshmi Kumar, Director, Sri Umamaheshwara Nruthya Kala Kshetra, Mysuru, will be the chief guests.

Prof. B. Jayaprakash Gowda, President, Karnataka Sangha, Mandya, will preside.

Profiles

Aina Somaiah Moovera is the daughter of Dr. M.K. Sanju Somaiah and Dr. Shruthi Somaiah. Her brother Taran Ponnappa is an enthusiastic sports person.

Aina is studying in Class 3 at Excel Public School, Mysuru. She was introduced into Bharatanatyam at the age of five.

She has performed Bharatanatyam in Gurudevotsava – Mandya; Chethanotsava – Mysuru; Medini Utsava – Sullia; Natyollasa – Bengaluru; Champaka Rastriya Kalaa Uthsava – Mysuru, etc. She has won first prize in the Bharatanatyam competition conducted by Kumar Performing Arts Centre (KPAC), Mysuru, in October 2023.

Aina has completed her Prarambhik Examination in 2022 conducted by Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal and is preparing for the Praveshika Pratham Examination this year. Her other interests are badminton and athletics.

Epuru Lakshmi Karthika is the daughter of entrepreneurs Satish Babu Epuru and T. Shivajyothi. Karthika has a younger brother Epuru Mohit Karthikeya Reddy.

Karthika is studying in Class 6 at Excel Public School, Mysuru. She was introduced into Bharatanatyam at the age of five.

She has performed Bharatanatyam in Gurudevotsava – Mandya; Chethanotsava – Mysuru; Medini Utsava – Sullia; Natyollasa – Bengaluru, etc. Karthika has also participated in an International Classical Dance Festival held at Nepal in May 2022 and received Nrityasree Award for her performance.

Karthika has completed her Praveshika Poorna Exam in 2022 conducted by Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal and is preparing for the Madhyama Pratham Exam.
