December 21, 2024

Gonikoppa: An accident victim admitted to a hospital in Mysuru in critical condition succumbed to his injuries yesterday, raising the death toll to three.

M.N. Harish (32) sustained severe head and chest injuries after being hit by a jeep on Gonikoppa-Mysuru Main Road near Thithimathi. He was rushed to a private hospital in Mysuru, where he passed away early Friday morning.

The accident, which occurred on Dec. 15, had already claimed the lives of Sannuvanda Jaya (48) from Thithimathi Hebbale and Sanath (26) from Devarapura, who died on the spot. With Harish’s death, the tragedy has now taken three lives.

The impact of the collision was devastating. Jaya’s head was severed and flung nearly 90 feet away, requiring a search to retrieve it. Sanath and Harish were brothers, compounding the grief of their family.

The incident happened around 10 pm as Jaya, Sanath and Harish stood by the roadside near Jaya’s house. They had stopped their bike on the sloping road after returning from Hanuman Jayanti celebrations in Thithimathi.

While they were conversing on Gonikoppa-Mysuru road at Badragola, a jeep speeding from Thithimathi side struck all three, leading to the deaths of Jaya and Sanath on the spot.

Harish, critically injured in the crash, fought for his life in the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The accident has left Harish and Sanath’s family devastated, mourning the loss of two brothers in a single incident. A case regarding the incident has been registered at the Gonikoppa Police Station.
