Kodagu case: One more succumbs to burns at Mysuru hospital

Madikeri: A woman, who was admitted with severe burns at K.R. Hospital in Mysuru, has succumbed to injuries yesterday morning.

The woman had sustained severe burn injuries after the house inside which she was sleeping along with other family members was set on fire by a man on Apr. 2 night. With this, the total deaths in the incident has risen to eight. 

The deceased is Pani Yeravara Paachi (65). Seven persons including four children were burnt to death in the incident that occurred at Mugutugeri village near Ponnampet in South Kodagu where a group of estate labourers were staying in the line house. On the night of Apr. 2, accused Paniyeravara Boja had set the house on fire when 10 of his family members including his wife Paniyeravara Baby were sleeping. 

While three persons died on the spot, four breathed their last at K.R. Hospital in Mysuru. Boja, the prime accused, was found dead on Apr. 6 morning inside a coffee estate. 

Police suspected that he might have killed himself fearing law.
