Mysuru: Marking the annual ‘Kailpoldh’ festival, Mysuru Kodava Samaja had organised an event at its premises in Vijayanagar here this morning.
The day-long programme commenced with Ayudha Puja. Speaking as the chief guest Maj. Gen. M.C. Nanjappa, Chief Patron, National Ex-Servicemen Co-ordination Committee, Bengaluru, opined that education was vital and commended the Kodava Samaja in awarding scholarships to Kodava students. He expressed concern over the gradual dwindling population of Kodavas and feared that it may reach a point of extinction. Scholarships were distributed to Kodava students. Eminent Kodava community members who had excelled in various fields were felicitated on the occasion.
Several games and lucky dip were also a part of the event. Kodava Samaja President M.K. Kuttappa presided. Vice-President B.M. Nanaiah, Hon. Secretary K.N. Muddaiah, Joint Secretary C. Prema Utthaiah, Treasurer M.M. Ponnappa, Rani Nanjappa, Bollamma Kuttappa were present.
