Mysuru, Oct. 5- The Konkani Christian Association, Mysuru, celebrated the Feast of the Nativity of Mother Mary, popularly known as Monthi Fest, recently at its Konkan Bhavan in Vijayanagar 2nd Stage, Mysuru.
The celebration began with the blessing of the new corn by Rev. Fr. Santa Lopez and Rev. Fr. Prashanth Noronha, symbolising gratitude for God’s blessings and abundance. Then it preceded by a solemn novena in honour of Mother Mary, marked by the traditional offering of flowers by children and devotees.
This was followed by the mass introduction by Rev. Fr. Mervin Noronha. A Konkani Mass was offered by Rev. Fr. Richard Menezes, during which Rev. Fr. Ajith Rodrigues delivered the homily, reflecting on the values of faith, family and unity that Monthi Fest represents.
The mass concluded with inspiring words of thanksgiving and blessings from Rev. Fr. Oswald Crasta, Rev. Fr. Lancy Lewis and Rev. Fr. Ivan Sequeira accompanied by the other priests. Following the Mass was the stage programme with a welcome address by Joyce Sequeira, Secretary.
As part of charity activities, the Association disbursed financial support worth Rs. 2,50,000 towards the education and medical needs of underprivileged children. Nearly 35 meritorious students of the community, ranging from Ph.D holders, doctors and Chartered Accountants to graduates, post-graduates, PUC and 10th-grade achievers were felicitated on the occasion.
Association President John William D’Souza presided. Anil Saldanha, Treasurer, proposed the vote of thanks.
