‘Krishnaarpanam’ flute duet on Oct. 12

Mysuru, Oct. 11 (BCT)- Bamboo Melody Raagas will present the third concert in its ‘Krishnaarpanam series’, featuring a flute duet by Vidwan Rakesh Sudhir and his disciple Vibhav Omkar Gayatri from Bengaluru.

The concert will take place tomorrow (Oct. 12) from 10 am to 12.30 pm at Kalpa Kshetra, Vijayanagar 3rd Stage, Mysuru.

The flautists will be accompanied by Vidwan Pavan Madhav on Mridangam and Vidwan Sharath Koushik on Ghatam.

Senior dance and music critic Dr. Rama V. Bennur and Assistant Professor of Law and Bharatanatyam Dancer Vidushi Disha G. Marigoli will be the special guests for the concert.

The inaugural concert of the Krishnaarpanam series was held on Aug. 17, featuring Vidwan Rakesh Sudhir and his disciple Ankush S. Kadaba. The second concert was held on Oct. 4, showcasing Vidwan Rakesh Sudhir and Sumeru V. Sakaleshpur from Shivamogga.

About the performers

Vidwan Rakesh Sudhir is a versatile musician, composer, and graded All India Radio artiste. He is the Founder of Studio Swaramadhura, a digital audio recording studio. Having performed widely across India and abroad at prestigious Sabhas, he also trains aspiring flautists through Bamboo Melody Raagas.

Vibhav Omkar Gayatri, a 14-year-old from Bengaluru, is the son of Omkar Nagesh Gayatri and Sangeetha Hebbar. He began learning the Karnatak flute at the age of 9 under the guidance of Vid. Rakesh Sudhir. In 2025, Vibhav received the prestigious Cultural Talent Search Scholarship (CTSS), conducted by the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), Karnataka, in the Karnatak Flute category. He is also learning Konnakkol under Vidwan Somashekar Jois of the World Konnakkol Academy LLP, Bengaluru.

Vibhav is currently studying in 9th Standard at National Public School, Banashankari, Bengaluru.
