KSLTA felicitates National Games medallists

Bengaluru: Double gold medallists S.D. Prajwal Dev and Adil Kalyanpur and other tennis players who brought glory to Karnataka at the National Games (in Goa and Ahmedabad) were felicitated by the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA) at its premises here recently.

As an incentive, the KSLTA also gave away cash awards to the medal winners, totalling Rs. 21.52 lakh. Karnataka won the men’s team gold, silver in men’s doubles and women’s doubles and a bronze in mixed doubles in Goa last year.

At the Ahmedabad National Games during 2022, Karnataka won a gold in men’s doubles, silver medals in women’s doubles and mixed doubles and two bronze medals in men’s and women’s team events.

The medallists are as follows:

37th National Games (Goa, 2023) — Gold: Men’s team event – S.D. Prajwal Dev, Adil Kalyanpur, Suraj Prabodh, Rishi Reddy and A. Deepak; Silver: Men’s doubles – Prajwal Dev and Adil Kalyanpur; Bronze: Women’s doubles – Sharmada Balu and Soha Sadiq; Mixed doubles – Prajwal Dev and Sharmada Balu.

36th National Games (Ahmedabad, 2022) — Gold: Men’s doubles – Prajwal Dev and Adil Kalyanpur; Silver: Women’s doubles – Sharmada Balu and Soha Sadiq; Mixed doubles – Prajwal Dev and Sharmada Balu; Bronze: Men’s team event – Prajwal Dev, Adil Kalyanpur, Rishi Reddy, Suraj Prabodh, Rashein Samuel, G. Manish; Women’s team event – Sharmada Balu, Soha Sadiq, P. Vanshitha, Reshma Maruri and Amar Vidula.

Deepak (Rs. 55,000), Rashein Samuel (Rs. 35,000), Peter Vijay Kumar (2022 non-playing captain, Rs. 25,000), Kiran Nandakumar (men’s coach, Rs. 25,000), Gopinath  (2023 non-playing captain, Rs. 25,000), Niranjan Ramesh (men’s & women’s coach,  Rs. 50,000).
