Mysuru: The Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) has announced admission to various courses for the academic year 2024-25.
Addressing a press meet at KSOU Guest House here this morning, Open University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sharanappa V. Halase said that the University has been imparting education through distance learning to various age groups right from 18 to 80 years since it was established in 1996.
KSOU has started admission to various courses for 10+ 2 and 10+2+3 qualified students, he said adding that the University has 37 Regional Centres and 142 Assisted Learning Centres for helping enrolled students.
“KSOU has started admission for 64 Graduate and Post-Graduate, Diploma courses. The other courses include MBA in Hospital and Healthcare Management, MCA, 10 online courses etc. The University plans to enrol one lakh students from across the country this year. It has also been planned to introduce duel-degree courses, one regular course, a new distance learning course and such other courses and all the academic programmes of KSOU are recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC). KSOU also provides lateral entry admission to students,” he said adding that all the courses will have week-end contact programmes.
Admission for new academic year which began on July 22, 2024, closes on Oct.31, 2024. Students can visit University’s official website www.ksoumysuru.ac.in and can apply online.
The VC also highlighted the fee concessions for BPL card holder women students, defence personnel and Ex-Servicemen, auto/cab drivers and their family members, employees of KSRTC/BMTC/NWKRTC and KKRTC, transgender community members and visually impaired students.
He also said that student scholarships are available for deserving SC/ST/OBC students and academic fee reimbursement facilities.
Promotional song released
Yogi Srinivasa Arka, Founder of city’s Arkadhama, released the promotional song of Karnataka State Open University on the occasion. The song is scripted by Siddegowda and sung by Nagesh Kandegala, who has also scored the music for the song. KSOU Registrar Prof. K.B. Praveen, Dean (Academic) Prof. Lakshmi and Syndicate member Ramesh Kalappa were present at the press meet.
