Mysuru: It is two months since Chief Secretary (CS) K. Ratna Prabha assured the students of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) to look into the issues they are facing including de-recognition of degree certificates from 2012-13 itself.
The students of KSOU in a letter to the Chief Secretary dated Jan.23, have urged her to recommend the State Government to give legal sanction to the degrees obtained by the students between 2013 to 2016.
“It is true that as the Chief of the Committee set up by the State Government to look into the problems of KSOU, following the de-recognition of the courses by the UGC, you have submitted a report. However, when the State Government comes forward to give it legal sanction can the problem be solved. It is very sad to see that such a serious situation is being treated very lightly by the people’s representatives,” said M. V. Ravishankar, student leader and former Chairman Mysore Lac and Paints in the letter.
He has strongly called upon the Chief Secretary to recommend the recognition of degrees of students and thus save the future of the many students who have obtained government jobs. Apart from this, the recognition for the year 2017-18 is also equally important, he has stated in the letter.
