KSRP Constables killed as SUV rams into bike

Mysore/Mysuru: Two Constables attached to Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) were killed on the spot when a Mahindra Thar SUV reportedly rammed into the bike they were riding on Lalitha Mahal Road here on Sunday night.

The deceased Constables are P. Mahesh (26), a resident of Kumbarakoppal in city and Amarnath Talikote (25), a native of Jamakandi taluk in Vijayapura district.

Mahesh and Amarnath, who were serving in the Mysuru unit of KSRP, had their dinner near Siddarthanagar and were proceeding on the Bajaj Pulsar bike towards Mall of Mysore, when the Mahindra Thar SUV, which came from the opposite direction rammed into the bike near the arch gate on Lalitha Mahal Road.

Due to the impact, the bike was thrown to a distance of about 10 metres. Mahesh and Amarnath, who sustained serious head injuries died on the spot. The Thar driver, identified as Vinay, tried to speed away after ramming into the bike, but the public, who chased the SUV, caught the driver near Alanahalli and handed him over to the Police.

Siddarthanagar Traffic Inspector Yogesh and staff, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar and registered a case. Post-mortem was conducted at MMC&RI mortuary on Monday and the bodies were handed over to their family members.

The body of Amarnath was shifted in an ambulance to Jamakandi. KSRP Inspector and two Constables accompanied the body. Amarnath, who joined the Police Department in 2017, was serving as a Constable at KSRP 5th Battalion on Lalitha Mahal Road in city.
