Bylakuppe: Hundreds of students from Kundanahalli Circle at Periyapatna Taluk and other 15 adjoining villages have no regular KSRTC buses to reach their schools and return home from schools.
The Kundanahalli Main Road is located on NH 275 and links Kushalnagar in Kodagu and Periyapatna. Hundreds of students and people wait at the junction for buses to reach their destinations. Though many buses pass through the busy road, they do not stop, severely inconveniencing the commuters.
The worst affected are students and public from Hunasawadi, Nandinathapura, Ilapura, Alanahalli, Naviluru, Moodalakoppalu, Charapura and Mallinathapura. Students say that though over 50 buses pass through the road from 7.30 am till about 8.45 am, only two or three buses stop at Kundanahalli Circle.
They alleged that most of the buses don’t stop as most of the students and public travel using the bus pass facility. “As we use bus pass and do not pay the full fare, these drivers stop beyond 100 metres from the designated stop to facilitate alighting passengers and thereby depriving us of travel opportunity,” said an aggrieved student.
The students said that they had met the KSRTC depot manager and the MLA and narrated their problems many times but no action has been taken so far. The depot at Kaggondi that began five months back has not taken the issue seriously and has failed to provide basic transport system to the people. They have demanded immediate redressal of their problems.
