Protest demanding formation of Cauvery Taluk enters 7th day

Kushalnagar: The indefinite stir launched by various organisations at Kushalnagar demanding formation of Cauvery Taluk with Kushalnagar in Kodagu district as the head quarters, entered the 7th day today, with hundreds of people taking part in the agitation.

The stir is being staged at Gundu Rao Satyagraha Vedike in the car stand at Kushalnagar town.

Today, members of the Kushalnagar Bar Association took part in the stir. They raised slogans demanding immediate formation of Cauvery Taluk.

Yesterday (Friday) hundreds of Muslim brethren led by Jamia Masjid Moulvi Zubair Moulana took part in the protest after Friday prayers.

The protesters formed a human chain at Field Marshal K.M.Cariappa Circle, blocking the Mysuru-Madikeri Highway for some time. This resulted in the disruption of vehicular traffic movement for about half an hour.

The Jamia Masjid President S.Haleem presented a cheque for Rs.25,000 to Cauvery Taluk Rachana Horata Kendra Samithi President V.P. Sashidhar for meeting the expenses. The  Town’s Hilal Masjid too announced  that it would donate Rs.15,000 towards the expenses of the struggle.

Jamia Masjid Secretary M.H.Tanveer Ahmed leaders Shabbir, Fazalullah, Hilal Masjid President A.Salim, Vice-President  Moosa and others took part in Friday’s protest.
