Mysuru: Accusing the managements of State-run Transport Corporations of defaulting on providing statutory benefits to employees, the KSRTC Staff and Workers Federation has urged the Government to implement the recommendations of PGR Sindhia Committee on Restructure and Reforms.
Addressing a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan here on Monday, Federation President H.V. Ananthasubbarao claimed that the Managements were showing scant regard for the benefits that are due to the staff and workers. Maintaining that Transport Minister B. Sriramulu had failed to keep his promise on reinstating 4,000 employees who were sacked during the Statewide Transport stir that took place in April last, he charged the BMTC of being apathetic to the plight of sacked employees.
Contending that unnecessary expenses being incurred by the Road Transport Corporations can be considerably cutdown by merging all the four Corporations (KSRTC, BMTC, NWKRTC and KKRTC) into one, Ananthasubbarao urged the Govt. to fulfil their demands, which chiefly included setting aside funds for KSRTC in the State Budget, timely payment of monthly wages, a hike in wages with retrospective effect from Jan. 2020, plugging of pilferage of revenues, implementation of Bengaluru Industrial Tribunal award covering Transport staff and an end to corruption at higher levels. He also demanded the Govt. to initiate measures for bringing out the 4 Transport Corporations from recurrent losses.
Federation Legal Advisor D.S. Suresh, Federation Joint Director T.L. Rajagopal, AITUC State Board Secretary H.R. Sheshadri and KSRTC Staff and Workers Union Mysuru City President S. Revanna were present.
