KSRTC hands over Rs. 10 lakh relief to deceased passenger’s kin

Mysore/Mysuru: The wife of a person, who met his tragic end while alighting a KSRTC bus, has been handed over a relief of Rs. 10 lakh from KSRTC Accident Relief Fund.

T. Puttaswamy (80) of Palahalli in Srirangapatna taluk, Mandya, had lost his life when he allegedly slipped while getting down from a KSRTC bus at Palahalli bus stand on May 19 at 9.50 pm. He had travelled to Palahalli from Mysuru in Bus Route No. 307 from City Bus Stand.

Following this, Srirangapatna Police had registered a case.  After completing due procedures, KSRTC Mysuru City Division handed over a relief cheque for Rs. 10 lakh to Jayamma, wife of Puttaswamy. H.T. Veeresh, Divisional Controller, KSRTC City Division, who handed over the cheque said “Whenever a passenger dies in accident while travelling in KSRTC bus or a pedestrian dies in accident involving KSRTC bus, the dependants of deceased are liable for a compensation of Rs. 10 lakh from KSRTC Accident Relief Fund. However, compensation will not be extended to those killed in accident involving KSRTC buses, irrespective of two-wheelers & other vehicles.”
