Mysuru: Dr. D.S. Guru, Professor, Department of Studies (DoS) in Computer Science, University of Mysore, Manasagangothri, Mysuru, has been selected for the Fellowship for the year 2023 by the Karnataka Science and Technology Academy (KSTA), a Unit of Department of Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka, during the Executive Committee Meeting held on Aug. 30, 2025.
Dr. Guru’s name was nominated for the Fellowship by his teacher Prof. K. Chidananda Gowda, former VC of Kuvempu University. The Fellowship, apart from invitations to all programmes of the Academy, entitles Dr. Guru to nominate scientists, technologists and science communicators of repute of Karnataka origin, to the Awards and Fellowships, in 12 Domains of the Academy (2 per domain per year), on an annual basis. Further, nominations may also be sent for paid Individual Associate Memberships of reputed academicians/ researchers in the prescribed proforma, throughout the year.
The Fellowship would be formally presented to Dr. Guru at the KSTA Awards/Fellowship Ceremony to be held during November/ December 2025.
Profile: Having completed school education in Kannada medium at Government Schools in Devanur village, Dr. Guru obtained Ph.D from University of Mysore and completed post-doctoral work at Michigan State University, USA. He is also extending his service as Member of National-level UGC Committees. He has successfully guided 22 Ph.D students and has published 480-plus research papers in peer reviewed journals/proceedings with more than 4,300 citations. In addition, he has authored more than 10 books published by International publishers.
He is an awardee of BOYSCAST Fellowship in 2005 by DST, Government of India, ARP award 2010 by DST, Government of Karnataka, and Rajyotsava Award 2023 by Department of Kannada & Culture and District Administration, Mysuru.
