Kudos to Rail AC Coach Attendant

Sir,

I travelled in Train No.17302 Dharwad-Mysuru Express, ex-Dharwad on 22.8.2019, in AC 2-tier Coach A1, with berth numbers 37 & 39 [Ticket PNR No.4261820269]. The train reached Mysuru (Platform No.1) on-time at 0700-hrs on 23.8.2019, and I de-trained and went to my home.

I received a phone call on my landline at around 0745-hrs, from one Mylariyappa, who first identified me by name from the passenger list, and then informed me that I had left my mobile phone on my berth when I had de-trained at Mysuru.

He had found my landline number from the emergency numbers list which I had kept along with my mobile phone. He then identified himself as the Coach Attendant for AC 2-tier Coach A1, and asked me to come to the train which had not yet left the platform, and collect my mobile phone from him.

I accordingly hurried back to City Railway Station Platform No.1, and met Mylariyappa, who restored my mobile phone to me after I had identified myself.

I wish to express my great appreciation of the commendable timely action of S.G. Nargund (Mylariyappa — his mobile number is 84960-61412) and his initiative, integrity, professionalism and sense of civic duty. I have already expressed my deep appreciation to him personally when I received my mobile phone from him, but I would greatly appreciate it if South Western Railways would also make a record of this act of AC Coach Attendant Nargund (Mylariyappa) in his Service Record, and also commend him appropriately within the Department.

Incidentally, I also wish to express my appreciation of the courtesy of the Ticket Examiner as well as of the general upkeep of the rail coach and of the bedding provided, both in my journey by Train No.17301 Mysuru-Dharwad [PNR No.4815662302] and Train No.17302 Dharwad-Mysuru [PNR No.4261820269].

– Maj. Gen. S.G. Vombatkere, Mysuru, 23.8.2019
