Kuvempu Vishwamanava Sandesha Jatha to arrive in city tomorrow

Mysuru: Kuvempu Vishvamanava Sandesha Jatha, initiated by Manava Bandhutva Vedike which was launched from Kuppalli in Shivamogga district on Dec.29, 2017 marking the birth anniversary of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu, will conclude in   city tomorrow.

Disclosing this at a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan here yesterday, Vedike Karnataka Convenor Wilfred D’Souza said that the  Jatha was flagged off at   Kuppalli by writer Prof. Baragur Ramachandrappa and after covering Shivamogga, Chikkamagalur, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Hassan, Mandya and Mysuru districts, will conclude in city tomorrow.

He further said that the Jatha visited 20 Colleges en route organising special lectures on works and ideologies of Kuvempu and over 25,000 copies of books on the legendary writer were distributed to students.

Continuing, D’Souza said that a valedictory function will be held tomorrow at B.M. Sri Hall in Manasagangothri at 2.30 pm to be inaugurated by littérateur Dr. C.P. Krishnakumar (CPK) and presided over by Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies (KIKS) Director Dr. Priti Srimandharkumar. He added that scholar Prof. Kalegowda Nagawara and National School of Drama-Bengaluru Director C. Basavalingaiah would be the chief guests. Vedike District Convenor M. Lokesh was present at the press meet.
