Kuvempunagar Cops arrest four chain-snatchers

86.20 grams gold chains, two scooters, all valued at about Rs. 6.20 lakh, recovered

Mysuru: In separate cases, Kuvempunagar Police have arrested four chain-snatchers and have recovered a total of 86.20 grams gold chains and two scooters, all worth about Rs. 6.20 lakh, from them.

In the first case, Kuvempunagar Police, on Oct. 20, arrested a chain-snatcher near Jaganmohan Palace who had snatched a 30-gram gold chain from a woman who was walking on the Cross Road in Madhuvana Layout on Oct. 18 and have recovered two gold chains weighing 45 grams besides seizing one Honda Activa scooter, all worth about Rs. 2.80 lakh from him.

In the second case, two chain snatchers, who had snatched a 11.20-gram gold chain from an elderly woman at KHB Colony in Kuvempunagar at about 6.30 pm on Oct. 30, were arrested by the Police on Nov. 1 at about 10.30 am near a bar on the side of Dattagalli Ring Road.

Those arrested are 32-year-old Manja, a cook by profession and a resident of Maskapura village in Chamarajanagar and 29-year-old Chandan, a construction worker and a resident of Mahadeshwara Layout in Kumbarakoppal, Mysuru.

The Police have recovered the 11.2 gold chain besides seizing the scooter used for the crime which they had stolen in Nazarbad, all valued at Rs. 1.30 lakh from them.

In the third case, the Police have arrested a man on charges of snatching a 30 gram                          gold chain from a woman in Srirampura 2nd Stage on Nov. 10 and have recovered the gold chain worth about Rs. 2.10 lakh from him.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP – Crime & Traffic) S. Jahnavi and KR Sub-Division ACP H.B. Ramesh Kumar guided Kuvempunagar Inspector L. Arun, PSIs S.P. Gopal & Madan and staff V. Anand, K.T. Manjunath, Maheshwar, Nagesh, H.V. Manju, Yashwanth, Azarath, Suresh and M.P. Manjunath in the nabbing, recovery and seizing operation.
