Labour Department working for the welfare of unorganised sector

Mysore/Mysuru: Assistant Labour Commissioner N. Thammanna said that the Labour Department is working for the welfare of unorganised labourers and construction workers. He was speaking after inaugurating Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations organised by Nava Samaaja Nirmaana Samshte at Mayura Hoysala Hotel here on Sunday.

Maintaining that the Department is engaged in providing social security for unorganised workers and informal workers, he highlighted the initiatives taken by the Department to provide shelter and food to immigrant workers during the COVID-19 induced lockdown period. He also recalled the efforts made by the Department to send the immigrant workers back home with help from the Railway Department.

Mandya District Labour Welfare Officer S.M. Manjuladevi too spoke. Sarada Vilas Law College faculty Prof. Muralidhar Peshwa, senior advocate A. Ramesh, Nava Samaaja Nirmaana Samshte President G.S. Rajesh, Vice-President Raviprasad, Secretary Abhishek and others were present during the occasion.
