Labour organisations stage protest against Centre’s anti-labour policy

Mysuru: Alleging that the Union Government has implemented the codification of Labour Laws and following anti-labour policy, the activists of labour organisations’ joint committee, following the nationwide protest call given by labour organisations, staged a protest in front of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s statue in Town Hall premises here yesterday.

The activists of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), All India United Trade Union Centre (AIUTUC) and other labour organisations, who assembled at Town Hall, shouted slogans against the Union Government and registered their protest.

The protestors alleged that the Union Government despite opposition by labourers had implemented the codification of labour laws on them and added that instead of 13 separate Labour Laws, new laws were brought into force.

As these laws would apply only to industries with more than 10 labourers, 90 percent of labourers working in unorganised sector, cottage industries and outsourced labourers have been denied of benefits, they alleged.

H.B. Ramakrishna,Somaraje Urs, G. Jayaram, Shashikumar and others took part in the                   protest.
