Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy has assured to provide a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to the next of kin of the labourer Saddam Hussain (31), who was killed, when a part of the building of Maharani’s Science College for Women on JLB Road in the city collapsed on Tuesday evening.
Speaking to Star of Mysore, DC Lakshmikanth Reddy said, “When I brought the matter to the notice of the Chief Minister, the latter assured to provide Rs. 5 lakh from CM’s Relief Fund. A proposal in this regard would be submitted to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) to facilitate the compensation. Besides, the contractor who has taken up the work of the college building has provided a compensation on his own. The District Administration too, shall be helping the bereaved family on humanitarian grounds.”
Following the collapse of the building, the works on demolishing and reconstructing the building have been stopped for now. The further decision shall be taken in consultation with the experts and officials.
