Labourers should unite for their rights: Labour Court Judge

Mysuru: “Unity among the working class is of utmost importance for labourers to get their just demands fulfilled,”opined District Labour Court Judge N.M. Ravi.

He was speaking after inaugurating a workshop on ‘Labour Rights’ jointly organised by Human Rights Protection Committee, Labour Department, ESI and PFO at Rotary Centre on JLB road here recently.

Pointing out that there will be employees who have demands that varies with each employee, Judge Ravi opined that individual demands cannot be met and as such it was important that workers put up an united fight for fulfilment of their demands.

Stating that every worker has a responsibility just as he/she has a right, he said that these two were like the two faces of the same coin.

Noting that with the rise of population, laws too are getting changed, he observed that job openings must grow in line with the population.

ESI Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Veereshappa too spoke on the occasion.

District Assistant Labour Commissioner A.C. Thammanna gave a brief on labour laws.

The Committee President K. Raghuram presided. EPFO Assistant Commissioner Sachin Sourabh, PF officer H.K. Anand, the committee office-bearers Shanta Mahadevaprasad, Kasturi Chandru, Venkataram Kashyap, B.N. Geetha Ganesh, Javaregowda, Sumitra Ramesh and others were present.
